Colchester Fringe Festival

Written by on October 16, 2024

The Colchester Fringe was established in 2019 but due to COVID-19 pandemic, the first Fringe event took place in May 2021 with a takeover of shop windows in Culver Square. The first festival with audiences took place in October 2021 and the aim was to support work by local emerging artists, whilst attracting performance companies to the town from across the UK and overseas.

Now every Autumn, across a variety of venues within the city centre, including, theatres, shops, pubs and nightclubs  extraordinary artists from all corners of the globe come to entertain, amuse and sometimes challenge audiences with a wide variety of events.

With a commitment to keeping ticket prices low and promoting under-represented voices, including LGBTQ+, global majority and disabled people within the programme and festival team, the Colchester Fringe has gone from strength to strength. Also it is a non-profit festival and any money made will be put towards supporting artists and developing the Fringe for future years.

This year’s event is on between 25 October and 3 November and you can find details and buy your tickets from www.colchesterfringe.com
